As the AVP of Software Engineering for Marketing & Communication Platforms, you will lead the strategy, development, and scaling of our core marketing and communication technology. You’ll oversee engineering teams building platforms that power personalized customer journeys, omnichannel campaigns (email, SMS, push, social), CRM integrations, analytics, content delivery and workflow management. This role requires a blend of technical vision, leadership excellence, and deep expertise in SaaS platforms at scale.
Key Responsibilities
1. Strategic Leadership
Define the technical vision and roadmap for marketing and communication platforms.
Align engineering initiatives with business goals (e.g., customer acquisition, retention, revenue growth).
Drive innovation in AI/ML-driven personalization, Next Best Action, real-time analytics, and cross-channel orchestration.
2. Engineering Excellence
Oversee end-to-end development of scalable, fault-tolerant platforms handling high-volume data and transactions.
Ensure platform reliability (>99.9% uptime), security (GDPR/CCPA/TCPA compliance), and cost efficiency.
Champion modern architecture (microservices, event-driven systems, APIs) and DevOps practices & metrics (E.g. DORA).
3. Team Building & Management:
Lead, mentor, and grow multiple engineering teams (managers, architects, developers, QA, DevOps).
Foster a culture of collaboration, innovation, and operational excellence.
Recruit top talent and develop succession plans.
4. Stakeholder Collaboration:
Partner with Product, Marketing & Data Science to prioritize features and ensure platform alignment.
Communicate technical strategy to executives, board members, and non-technical stakeholders.
Manage vendor relationships (e.g., CDP, marketing automation tools).
5. Technical Oversight:
Review architecture decisions, code quality, and system design.
Stay ahead of industry trends (e.g., CDPs, identity resolution, GenAI in marketing).
Drive data privacy, security, and regulatory compliance.
Required Qualifications
10+ years in software engineering, with 5+ years in senior leadership roles (Director/AVP level).
Proven track record building/scaling marketing and communications technology (e.g., CDP, Campaign Management, Workflow Management, email, SMS, push).
Deep knowledge of MarTech ecosystems, specifically Adobe Experience Platform (RT-CDP, AJO, CJA), Adobe Workfront and OpenText.
Mastery in Cloud platforms (e.g AWS/GCP/Azure), modern stacks (Java/Python/Node.js, React), databases (SQL/NoSQL), and data pipelines.
Success managing 50+ person engineering orgs with multiple teams.
Exceptional communication, strategic planning, and conflict-resolution skills.
Bachelor’s or Master’s in Computer Science or related field.
Preferred Qualifications
Background in AI/ML applications for marketing personalization and Next Best Action.
Knowledge of data governance and compliance frameworks (GDPR, CCPA, TCPA).
