About the Role:
We are seeking an Electrical Engineer who can lead design, development, and validation of the electrical subsystems that power our Smartmast platform—an edge-deployed, Linux and GPU-based sensor node for maritime intelligence. You will be responsible for the full lifecycle of electrical design, from schematic capture and PCB layout through to bring-up, testing, and environmental validation. This includes core compute hardware, power delivery, peripheral interfaces, sensor integration, and EMI/resilience measures required for rugged field deployments. You’ll collaborate closely with mechanical, software, and systems engineers to evolve the Smartmast into a modular, production-grade platform.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and document the electrical system architecture for next-generation edge compute modules, including power regulation, sensor I/O, and interconnects.
- Create schematics and multi-layer board layouts using industry-standard EDA tools, optimized for thermal performance, EMI compliance, and mechanical constraints.
- Oversee PCB fabrication and assembly vendors, including BOM management, design for manufacturability (DFM) checks, and prototype validation.
- Integrate and interface with peripherals such as cameras, SDRs, GNSS/GPS, IMUs, PoE, radar, and environmental sensors.
- Design power systems with battery integration, surge protection, and redundant regulation paths for safety-critical applications.
- Perform electrical bring-up, validation, and debugging across prototypes and production hardware using oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and other lab instrumentation.
- Contribute to design-for-reliability efforts addressing shock, vibration, IP ratings, lightning protection, and thermal resilience.
- Support enclosure and harness design in collaboration with mechanical engineering to ensure robust physical and electrical integration.
- Maintain detailed documentation, including schematics, test procedures, manufacturing processes, and hardware change logs.
- Collaborate with software and AI teams to validate hardware performance under real-world workloads and field conditions.
Qualifications (Preferred):
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
- 8+ years of experience designing and delivering production-grade embedded hardware systems.
- Proficiency with schematic capture and PCB layout tools (e.g., Altium, OrCAD).
- Strong understanding of high-speed signal integrity, power electronics, and mixed-signal design.
- Hands-on experience in bring-up, validation, and troubleshooting of embedded compute platforms.
- Familiarity with camera interfaces (CSI, USB3), GNSS, IMUs, and other real-world sensor systems.
- Experience working with ruggedized or environmentally constrained hardware designs.
- Excellent debugging skills with lab tools (oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, multimeters).
- Bonus: experience with NVIDIA platforms, RF considerations, or marine/aerospace deployments.
Work Environment:
- This is a fully remote position with collaboration via online tools.
- Flexible working hours with occasional deadlines requiring high availability.
- Opportunity to work on innovative projects with a global impact.
Benefits:
- Competitive salary.
- Flexible work hours and the option for remote work.
- Opportunities for professional development and continued education.
