Providing essential services to field staff and volunteers. Offering this support frees field staff for direct ministry with kids, optimizes financial contributions, and ensures careful stewardship of the mission's assets (both tangible and intangible).

Essential Duties:

Spiritual Development

  • Develop a yearly personal growth plan that fosters a vibrant spiritual life including time for solitude, retreat, reflection, study, prayer, and corporate worship.
  • Ensure that all Young Life work is designed and carried out with an awareness of and in alignment with Young Life’s Values and Methods.
  • Develop strong spiritual disciplines and personal accountability.

Human Resource Delivery

  • Build a strong relationship with Mission Leaders by providing timely and professional support on HR processes, procedures and policies to drive standardization and best practices.
  • Support the HR Director Team in building a culture that is diverse, equitable, and ensures a sense of belonging for staff and volunteers.
  • Support Mission Leaders with resources and guidance on orientation and onboarding for new hires.
  • Perform routine tasks required to administer and execute human resource programs including, but not limited to: Employee Relations, Employee Engagement, Talent Development, and Workday Intake.
    • Employee Relations: Consult on conflict resolution, employee discipline, and employee recognition in alignment with our policies.
    • Employee Engagement: Facilitate open channels for employees to voice their opinions, concerns, and suggestions in an environment that is welcome, comfortable and safe. Respond to communications in a timely manner (24 hours or less) and support the HR Directors with announcing HR updates to mission partners as needed.
    • Investigations: Partner with the HR Directors to ensure investigations are conducted with fairness and consistency. Perform intake and clearly document evidence and facts surrounding complaints.
    • Workday HR Support: Support the field team and mission services on initial intake of workday calls and provide solutions by serving as a liaison for researching, analyzing and providing a resolution to employee requests.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of HR policies, procedures and programs for the field and mission services as assigned.
  • Process employee requests, provide relevant information, and provide a timely response (initial response within 24 hours of receipt of communication). Proactively collaborate with other HR team members as needed to ensure quality service is provided.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations and recommended best practices; reviews and practices to maintain compliance.
  • Maintain knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law.
  • Support staff members with all Workday HR functions by providing coaching and ensuring a uniform standard of usage.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Professional Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources Management, Business Administration or related field is required.
  • A minimum of three (3) years’ experience working in the field of Human Resources.
  • Familiarity in HR technical proficiencies and core HR competencies with experience in performance management, coaching others, employee relations, and customer service.
  • Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information and maintain confidentiality with a strong sense of integrity and ethics.
  • Ability to influence without formal authority and in a consultative method.
  • Young Life experience preferred.

Travel

  • Hybrid or remote work environment acceptable.
  • Up to 25% required travel.

This position plays a vital role in HR, with responsibilities that include leading staff support for our Workday platform through problem-solving, training, and partnership. It also involves walking alongside employees in exit interviews, leave and absence coaching, and other core HR tasks that ensure the mission moves forward with care and excellence.

This role provides a competitive salary of $63,890–$79,961 and includes the opportunity for up to 25% travel to camps, local areas, and HQ.
