What's the position?

As the Senior Engineering Manager you will lead a cross-functional engineering team working within the Quantitative Sports department. This is a critical leadership position responsible for architecting and scaling systems that ingest, process, calculate and distribute pricing feeds with ultra-low latency and high reliability to power cutting-edge sports betting experiences.

 

This role requires an individual who has both the technical expertise and leadership experience to empower and inspire a team of engineers who alongside the Quantitative Developers will deliver our pricing platform.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead engineering efforts on a scalable platform designed to perform reliably under intense user and data load

  • Lead the engineering team through prioritization and distribution of work

  • Be a key stakeholder and contributor in architecture discussions regarding the pricing platform

  • Spearhead the drive to reduce the latency within the system

  • Work closely with the product team to create and maintain technical roadmaps aligned with company strategy

  • Ensure a full testing structure is in place to create confidence and resilience in the system

  • Foster team collaboration and knowledge sharing

  • Work closely with the quantitative developers to ensure best practices and alignment within the wider department

  • Build operational tools and applications to support teams as required

Job requirements

What are we looking for?

  • Experience in leadership of an engineering team

  • Proven track record in developing and maintaining a low-latency trading platform

  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders

  • Deep proficiency in Python

  • Experience in management and development of data-heavy pipelines

  • Experience in deploying and managing cloud-based systems and infrastructure

  • Strong knowledge of messaging systems (eg Kafka) and pipeline architecture

  • Strong Linux skills

  • Self-driven, meticulous, and ability to prioritize in a complex and fast-paced environment

 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree (or higher) in Engineering, Computer Science or other related scientific, technical or business discipline

  • Minimum of 3 years management experience

  • Minimum of 10 years job related experience

 

Preferred:

  • Understanding of pricing engines, trading algorithms, or live odds generation.

  • Strong interest in sports and sport analytics

  • SQL experience
